For the first time in Motivational Monday's history I am blogging about a person, very near and dear to my heart, the author Elizabeth Gilbert. The first time GIlbert crossed my paths was when I was very young I think I must have been around 10-11 years old. I watched The Oprah WInfrey Show with my mother and I was too young to grasp a lot of things discussed on this show and I know for a fact I did not comprehend what Gilbert and Oprah talked about in full, but somehow I was mesmerized by this meeting. I remember it so clearly she spoke with such accuracy and honesty that even as a child I knew this woman was special. Years later I saw her on various talkshows but didn't think about it until 2014 when this woman would make her final entrace into my life when I was finally old enough to both hear her clearly and needing it desperatly.

As written on the blog before 2014 was a very hard year for me. I often stayed up very late and couldn't sleep on anxious nights and one evening I watched TV I switched through the channels and found this movie with Julia Roberts. I didn't think much of it and then I realized it was the bestseller "Eat Pray Love", a movie I had wanted to watch for ages, unaware that it was Gilbert's piece. I sat there in my halfsleep taking in every shot. And then this quote hit me like BAM , and it's my favorite quote from the movie ( and also book) "Ruin is a gift, ruin is the road to transformation". It hit me like a train, I felt so much comfort in those words , because that's exactly what I felt like at the time, a ruin. I started reading the book a few months later but life got in the way and somehow I put it off until last october.

The book "Eat Pray Love" was even better than the movie and every time I listened ( audiobook) to Gilbert's comforting words and how she turned her life around all I could feel was both love and awe for her. Her book felt like a big blanket, that I could wrap myself in and learn so much from at the same time. Ever since Elizabeth Gilbert became one of my favorite humans. I also found out she had her own podcast "Magic Lessons" , that she did as a little extra thing to promote her new book "BIG MAGIC" and help people over the phone with their creative blocks. I have ordered the book so I wanna do an entire post to that entirely when i have read it! :)

Elizabeth Gilbert is an example of a woman I whom I really look up to. If you ever need a pick me up just search for her name on Youtube and listen to her motivational speeches. She is not this preachy woman who says "Do like me and you shall be rewarded" on the contrary, Elizabeth is relatable, makes jokes on her own behalf and even toss in the occational cuss. I adore this combination of humor and wisdom.

SIDENOTE: I am in the midst of reading one of her books now "The Signature Of All Things" right now and decided to be brave and tweet her that I enjoyed it and she liked my tweet. I fangirled hahaha. Here is proof lol:

Who is your favorite author? And do you have any inspiring encounters with spirituality? Let me know in the comments!

Lots Of Love Emma xoxo
